Welcome to an Accessible and Inclusive Retreat at Horse Park Hideaway

At Horse Park Hideaway, we believe that everyone deserves a peaceful, relaxing holiday — no matter their needs or circumstances. Caroline, who has a background working and volunteering with adults and young people with disabilities and special needs, understands just how difficult it can be to find a holiday that truly suits you. More importantly, she knows how essential a holiday is for rest, joy, and connection.

That’s why we created a space that’s accessible for all — and not just in the usual ways. Our goal is to offer a welcoming, comfortable retreat for small families, couples, and individuals alike. Whether it’s a family with children who may be sensitive to sensory overload, a couple who use wheelchairs seeking a romantic weekend away with all the comforts of home, or an elderly couple longing for peace and quiet, Horse Park Hideaway is designed to be a place where everyone can relax and feel at ease.

Accessibility Features That Make a Difference

Fern Cabin offers a truly accessible experience:

  • Parking is conveniently located right outside the cabin with ramp access to the front door.

  • All doors are wide enough to accommodate wheelchair users comfortably.

  • Worktops are lower than usual for easier access, and light switches and plug sockets are positioned at accessible heights.

  • The wet room is purpose-built for wheelchair users, featuring grab bars, an accessible-height sink, and a shower chair for your convenience.

  • The hot tub is sunk into the decking to make access easier for all guests.

For guests with visual impairments, we’ve made sure door frames, light switches, and sockets are easy to see and removed any trip hazards. Large print information is available, and guide dogs are very welcome.

Sensory Support and Family-Friendly Comfort

We also recognize the importance of sensory-friendly features. We provide a sensory storybook, door and cupboard guards, plastic kitchen crockery, and a sensory box for guests with autism or other sensory needs. The decking has a lockable gate so you can relax knowing your little ones are safe and secure.

If your child has autism or additional needs and there’s anything extra we can provide to make your stay more comfortable, please let us know — we are here to help in any way we can.
